Amino Acids Formulas... cont'd
The nutritional failure of amino acid formulations generated even more confusion among scientists about basic questions, such as:
a. How many amino acids are essential for human nutrition?
b. What is the "ideal" combination of amino acids for human nutrition?
c. How can the daily requirement of amino acids be calculated?
d. Should an amino acid mixture provide only the essential amino acids or also the non-essential amino acids? (And in what proportion?)
After more than two decades of research, these questions were finally answered and confirmed by finding and remedying the shortcomings of the previous research methodologies. The result: The discovery of the ideal amino acid pattern for human nutrition.
This pattern is comprised of unique proportions of essential amino acids. And so, for the first time in medical history, we can now provide protein nutritional support that releases virtually no nitrogen waste or calories.

Why All Amino Acids Formulas Are Not Equal
The discovery of the ideal amino acid pattern for human nutrition can be considered to be one of the most important nutritional discoveries of modern time.
First
The scientific discoveries related to proteins and their constituent amino acids began around 1820 with the discovery of the essential amino acid, leucine.
In 1935, William C. Rose (1887-1985) completed the identification of the eight essential amino acids with the discovery of, threonine.
As early as 1946, three key concepts were recognized:
1. There are daily essential amino acid requirements.
2. The nutritional value or quality of a dietary protein depends upon its amino acid profile.
3. For protein synthesis* to occur, all eight essential amino acids must be available simultaneously at the sites of synthesis - if one amino acid is missing, protein synthesis will not take place.
*protein synthesis means the body's synthesis of new tissue.
Rose was first to estimate a daily essential amino acid requirement for humans; but, regrettably, amino acid formulas based upon this estimation had a poor nutritional effectiveness, with the adverse side effect of increased Blood Urea Nitrogen (B.U.N.).

Magnesium and Bone Health
The National Academy of Sciences has determined that most Americans are magnesium-deficient, with men obtaining about 80 percent of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) and women averaging only 70 percent.4 Too few medical researchers and doctors are sounding the alarm, so it is important that you inform yourself and protect your health.5,6
Magnesium was first discovered in huge deposits near a Greek city called Magnesia. Magnesium sulfate, known today as Epsom salts, was used in ancient times as a laxative, and still is to this day. A 1697 medical paper recommended magnesium, with some exaggerated unscientific enthusiasm, for conditions as varied as skin ulcers, depression, vertigo, heartburn, worms, kidney stones, jaundice, and gout. Although we no longer treat all of these conditions specifically with magnesium, current research does support its use for a long list of ailments that you will read about in The Miracle of Magnesium.
The amount of research on the topic of magnesium is staggering. To bring you the most current research and medical facts, I've sifted through thousands of pages of scientific studies, each of which begins with the acknowledgment that magnesium is of therapeutic value in treating a myriad of symptoms.
1. Anxiety and panic attacks. Magnesium normally helps keep adrenal stress hormones under control.
2.Asthma. Both histamine production and bronchial spasms increase with magnesium deficiency.
3.Blood clots.Magnesium has an important role to play in preventing blood clots and keeping the blood thin — much like aspirin but without the side effects.
4.Bowel disease. Magnesium deficiency slows down the bowel, causing constipation, which could lead to toxicity and malabsorption of nutrients as well as colitis.
5.Cystitis. Bladder spasms are worsened by magnesium deficiency.
6. Depression. Serotonin, which elevates mood, is dependent on magnesium. A magnesium-deficient brain is also more susceptible to allergens, foreign substances that in rare instances can cause symptoms similar to mental illness.
7. Detoxification. Magnesium is crucial for the removal of toxic substances and heavy metals such as aluminum and lead from the body.
8. Diabetes. Magnesium enhances insulin secretion, facilitating sugar metabolism. Without magnesium, insulin is not able to transfer glucose into cells. Glucose and insulin build up in the blood, causing various types of tissue damage.
9. Fatigue. Magnesium-deficient patients commonly experience fatigue because dozens of enzyme systems are under-functioning. An early symptom of magnesium deficiency is fatigue.
10. Heart disease. Magnesium deficiency is common in people with heart disease. Magnesium is administered in hospitals for acute myocardial infarction and cardiac arrhythmia. Like any other muscle, the heart requires magnesium. Magnesium is also used to treat angina, or chest pain.
11. Hypertension. With insufficient magnesium, blood vessels may go into spasm and cholesterol may rise, both of which lead to blood pressure problems.
12. Hypoglycemia. Magnesium keeps insulin under control; without magnesium, episodes of low blood sugar can result.
13.Insomnia. Sleep-regulating melatonin production is disturbed without sufficient magnesium.
14.Kidney disease. Magnesium deficiency contributes to atherosclerotic kidney failure. Magnesium deficiency creates abnormal lipid levels and worsening blood sugar control in kidney transplant patients.
15.Migraine. Serotonin balance is magnesium-dependent. Deficiency of serotonin can result in migraine head-aches and depression.
16.Musculoskeletal conditions. Fibrositis, fibromyalgia, muscle spasms, eye twitches, cramps, and chronic neck and back pain may be caused by magnesium deficiency and can be relieved with magnesium supplements.
17.Nerve problems. Magnesium alleviates peripheral nerve disturbances throughout the body, such as migraines, muscle contractions, gastrointestinal spasms, and calf, foot, and toe cramps. It is also used in treating the central nervous symptoms for vertigo and confusion.
18.Obstetrical and gynecological problems. Magnesium helps prevent premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea (cramping pain during menses), is important in the treatment of infertility, and alleviates premature contractions, pre-eclampsia, and eclampsia in pregnancy. Intravenous magnesium is given in obstetrical wards for pregnancy-induced hypertension and to lessen the risk of cerebral palsy and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Magnesium should be a required supplement for pregnant women.
19.Osteoporosis. Use of calcium with vitamin D to enhance calcium absorption without a balancing amount of magnesium causes further magnesium deficiency, which triggers a cascade of events leading to bone loss.
20.Raynaud's syndrome. Magnesium helps relax the spastic blood vessels that cause pain and numbness of the fingers.
21.Tooth decay. Magnesium deficiency causes an unhealthy balance of phosphorus and calcium in saliva, which damages teeth.

Why Do I need them?
These are the amino acids our cells cannot make for themselves, and we have to get them from what we eat. Lysine and methionine are particularly problematic, and you know that if you’re a vegetarian (meat eaters get all eight), you're not getting these. No single plant source supplies all eight. To get the complete complement, you have to eat from the plant family that includes grains (Poaceae) AND from the plant family that includes legumes (Fabaceae). The former gives you methionine but not lysine, and the latter gives you lysine but not methionine.
MAP/SON Formula is especially good for vegetarian diets.

Is Digestion the same as Metabolism?
Can Other PROTEIN be taken with MAP?
Protein supplements commonly use casein, whey, or soybean as their protein source which provide an average of 17% NNU, which is 82% less than that provided by MAP.
Dietary protein averages anywhere from 48% (hen's egg) to 18%.
All protein needs lots of digestion time and much metabolzing (to produce mostly waste).
One or two tablets of MAP need only 23 minutes to be metabolized and can provide the equivalent of 8 liquid ounces of any available dietary supplement. As a result, substituting low NNU dietary supplements with MAP, relieves liver and kidney stress.
Finally, amino acids quickly available to the body for its own protein synthesis will be disrupted if your body is also trying to digest dietary protein. The use of those aminos acids in lost.
